To get a job in Qatar from Sri Lanka, apply through an SLBFE-licensed agency, pass the interview, sign your contract, complete the medical test and fingerprints at the Qatar Visa Centre in Colombo, register with the SLBFE and fly on an employment visa. Lucky HR (licence No. 2848) handles each step from Colombo and Nintavur, and has its own office in Doha.
1. Choose a licensed agency
Only agencies licensed by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment can send you to Qatar for work. Ask for the licence number and check it on the SLBFE website before you pay anything. Lucky HR's licence is No. 2848. How to check an agency.

3. Get your documents ready
- Passport with at least six months left
- National identity card and birth certificate
- School and trade certificates, and experience letters
- Driving licence for driving jobs
- Passport-size and full-length photos
- Police clearance report, if the job asks for it
4. Interview and trade test
We interview you first. Skilled jobs such as technicians, drivers and cooks usually include a trade test. Many Qatar employers then interview candidates themselves, often at our Colombo office.
5. Contract and the Qatar Visa Centre
Once the employer selects you, read your contract carefully: salary, duty hours, accommodation, food and contract length. Selected candidates then go to the Qatar Visa Centre in Colombo for the medical test, fingerprints and contract signing.
6. Visa and SLBFE registration
When the visa is ready, you must register with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment before leaving. Lucky HR does this for you. Never travel to Qatar for work on a visit visa.
7. Fly, and your first weeks in Qatar
Your ticket is booked and the employer knows when you land. In Qatar your employer arranges your Qatar ID (residence permit). Salaries in Qatar are paid into a bank account under the Wage Protection System.
Mistakes to avoid
